Having studied french for many years, a dream of mine was to visit and photograph the Camargue horses and gardiens in the marshy region near the Rhone delta in southern France. The Camargue horse is an ancient breed indigenous to this area. Its origins remain relatively unknown, although it is generally considered one of the oldest breeds in the world. For centuries, possibly thousands of years, these small horses have lived wild in the harsh environment of the Camargue marshes and wetlands. It was an exhilirating experience to photograph these semi- wild white horses running free and playing at the edge of the marshes at sunrise, this truly made my heart sing!
